Ekstraklasa clubs have decided. There will be changes in PZPN. In the background, the action of CBA Football

The echoes of the “melioration” scandal of November 2022 are not silent. At that time, the CBA detained the former secretary general of the Polish Football Association, Maciej Sawicki, and Jakub Tabisz, a member of the association’s board and then vice-president of Cracovia. According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspects are accused of “acting to the detriment of the Polish Football Association in the amount of over one million zlotys”. In addition, Tabisz was charged with money laundering. Against the Cracovia activist, the prosecutor’s office applied preventive measures in the form of a property surety in the amount of PLN 500,000, police supervision and a ban on leaving the country. Tabisz, like other suspects in the case, faces up to 10 years in prison.

Jakub Tabisz will lose his place on the board of PZPN? Premier League clubs decided

“I sincerely hope that a thorough analysis of the events of 2014 and the following years will lead to a complete exoneration of me from unfounded charges, because I am innocent,” Tabisz wrote in a statement sent to the media a few days after his arrest. The PZPN also referred to the matter. “The Polish Football Association takes seriously the information received from media reports about the detention of a member of the board of PZPN Jakub T. (…) PZPN declares its full readiness to cooperate with the relevant services in order to clarify the matter as soon as possible” – it was written in a statement from November 2022 year.

The affair, however, continues. According to Sebastian Staszewski from Interia, Cracovia’s activist will soon lose his place on the board of PZPN. “The Ekstraklasa clubs today withdrew the recommendation for Jakub Tabisz to the board of PZPN. The next step will be the dismissal of the activist by the General Assembly of PZPN. This is the result of the allegations against Tabisz by the prosecutor’s office in Szczecin,” the journalist wrote on Twitter.

Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyków presented a little more information about the vote on the withdrawal of the recommendation for Tabisz. It turns out that nine clubs supported the proposal. Seven teams voted against withdrawing the recommendation for the activist, and two abstained. “Probably someone new will get a recommendation soon,” the journalist wrote on Twitter.

In connection with the “melioration scandal”, Tabisz was suspended from his duties as vice-president of Cracovia. In addition to the 47-year-old and Maciej Sawicki, three more people were detained in November 2022. I am talking about Iwona T., the wife of a member of the board of the PZPN, Gabriela M., former president of the board of OSTTAIR sp. z o. o., which is to be involved in the case, and Andrzej P., president of Sportfive.

Earlier, Maciej Sawicki also responded to the allegations. “I have nothing to do with corruption and have never had anything to do with it. However, I am accused of causing financial damage to PZPN. I consider it completely absurd, and my patron does not even see the signs of any crime,” said the former secretary general of PZPN, and now the president of the Sports Channel.
