Golf at its finest. The final round of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship was lively from start to finish. After eight birdies and four bogeys, the Englishman Daniel Gavins appeared at the start of the 18th with the dream lead for a golfer, three strokes on the attack of the 72nd and last hole with a total of -19. Alas, a drive into the water and again his 4th shot sent into the liquid element and the player from across the Channel ended up with a 10-meter putt not to go into the play-off.
Magic of the little white, his 7th shot found the hole and Gavins made the best double bogey of his entire career to win with a one-stroke lead, -17, over the South African Zander Lombard and the Swedish Alexander Bjork.
Three French in the top 15
On the French side, Matthieu Pavon, who started in 4th place, had a great start to the game with three birdies and an eagle on his first four holes, -5 after 4 holes, to take the lead with a two-stroke lead. Unfortunately the Bordelais did not keep this pace with only one birdie until the end, 4 bogeys and a double. The son of the former midfielder of the Girondins de Bordeaux finally returns a card of 72 (par), his worst of the week to rank in 9th place with the score of -13.
Victor Perez finished with a 68 (-4) to rank 13th, at -11 with Julien Guerrier. Joel Stalter is 23rd at -9, Jeong Weon Ko 28th at -7, David Ravetto 51st at -3 and Adrien Saddier 65th in par. Victor Dubuisson closes the mark of the French clan, the ex-world number 15 ranks 69th at +3.
