Crowd favorite stays with Capitals

The formation of the old capital has achieved a masterstroke by repatriating to the fold the one who lives in the region and who was a member of Team Quebec in 2021. Finally donning the jersey of the Capitals in 2022, the 28-year-old athlete s ‘ has emerged as an excellent option as a first hitter, having maintained an organization-best .325 batting average.

The speedy infielder also set a best among his peers with 26 stolen bases.

New dad and starting a career as a land surveyor, the young veteran had toyed with the idea of ​​retiring from baseball. After good discussions with his employer, he was able to find a compromise.

“He was extremely understanding and despite the labor shortage that is raging everywhere, he kindly agreed to release me from May to September, after which I can return to work,” Glaude explained in a press release from Les Capitales. .

“After a long season, it’s quite classic. The guys are physically and mentally tired. In David’s case, with his new career and a newborn, it was a rough summer and he hadn’t gotten much sleep down the stretch. But he loves baseball, he loves playing in Quebec. I knew that by giving him some time, he would want to come back with the team in 2023,” added head coach Patrick Scalabrini.

For the next campaign, the player expressed the wish to hit even more doubles and create scoring chances. He produced 60 runs last season (third on the team), thanks to 18 doubles and 16 homers, in particular.

Before joining the Quebec formation, Glaude wore the colors of the Aigles de Trois-Rivières from 2017 to 2019, within the defunct Can-Am League. He studied at Missouri Western University.
