ANALYSE – Olympic champion a year ago, the Frenchman wants to double the pleasures in Courchevel by winning the first world title of his career in slalom.

February 16, 2022. Almost a year to the day. While he had only signed the sixth fastest time in the first run of the slalom at the Beijing Olympics, Clément Noël performed a second act of great beauty. Flying between the poles, the Frenchman made a brilliant demonstration of his talent and his touch of snow almost without equivalent on the world circuit. The recital of an artist then only 24 years old. A consecration that the Vosges would however have difficulty integrating, digesting and, perhaps, fully assuming.

Indeed, since this Olympic advent, the figures have proven to be cruel for him: of the twelve World Cup events in which he took part, seven ended with the mention DNF, the abbreviation of the English terms “Did not finishmeaning that he had not been at the end of his slalom. For a single victory and two podiums. Not the best way to show off his status as an Olympic champion. Which, perhaps, weighs on him…
