Clara Lassaux, Belgian badminton champion, a future lawyer who dreams of the Olympics

Clara has her head firmly on her shoulders, and she knows exactly what she wants for the years to come: “Jwould like to become a lawyer or bailiff, it would be our dream job. And in relation to sport, I would really like to continue as long as possible and achieve ultimate goals like the Olympic Games”.

Clara knows that qualifying for the Paris Olympics will be complicated. But she still thinks about it in the back of her mind: I think that might be a bit fair. The level of the girls has evolved a lot, because now a lot of girls don’t even study anymore, they just do training. Suddenly, the level has greatly increased, and I am still far in the ranking. And there is also Lianne Tan who is well ahead, who is much better ranked than me, and there will only be one Belgian player in Paris. But if Paris is not going well, I will do everything to qualify for Los Angeles”.

At the Los Angeles Olympic Games, Lianne Tan will be 37, Clara Lassaux will be 27. But the goal of the new Belgian champion (and also Belgian vice-champion in doubles) is elsewhere: I am currently 127th player in the world. The medium-term goal is to enter the top 100″, trust Clara.

The next meeting of the Limaloise will be at the beginning of March for a tournament in Portugal.
