The London club have secured the services of the 22-year-old Argentinian midfielder with a contract until 2031.

The buying fever will not have let go of the leaders of Chelsea. After Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoît Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto (stayed in Lyon on loan), Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana and João Félix (loan), all for an amount of more than €200m excluding bonuses, the Blues complete their winter recruitment with Enzo Fernandez. And for that, they swallowed more than 120 M€! We are just waiting for the official press release. It is one of the 10 biggest transfers in the history of world football, and a Premier League-wide record transaction. The world champion has signed up until 2031.

Best youngster at the last World Cup, Enzo Fernandez joined Benfica last summer from River Plate for… €14 million. The somersault is extraordinary for the Lisbon club, accustomed to making large capital gains on its players, like Darwin Nunez (recruited for 34 M€ and sold to Liverpool for 80), but also to sell its house nuggets at a price gold, with Joao Felix (€127.2m at Chelsea) and Ruben Dias (€71.6m at Manchester City). River Plate is not doing badly either, receiving 25% of the amount, or just over €30m, in addition to the €4m as a training club.
