“It’s not easy to analyze, there was a lot of movement in the transfer window,” said coach Edin Terzic ahead of the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday (9 p.m.): “You don’t know exactly what line-up they will be in here.”
In the winter, Chelsea added 300 million euros in transfer investments, and in the past seven months the club of German national player Kai Havertz has spent well over half a billion euros. (DATA: Champions League results and fixture list)
However, Terzic expects “a great game” in view of BVB’s “very successful phase” with six wins in a row. Both games will be “tight”, the coach suspects, “we have to win at least one of the two if we want to reach the quarter-finals”.
Borussia has to do without national striker Youssoufa Moukoko (ruptured syndesmosis).
Sebastien Haller’s Champions League premiere for BVB is therefore expected. “I can feel the guys are working hard. Sebastien is extremely important for us,” said Terzic: “We are ready. But we need an outstanding performance.”
