Cerro Largo, with a goal in the addition of Galletto, beat River 2-1 in Ubilla

A goal in the last play of the game gave Cerro Largo a 2-1 victory over River Plate at Ubilla, three important points to start the Apertura.

The game began with two teams that were dedicated to sharing the ball and fell into constant inaccuracies that resulted in almost no arrivals.

Some run by Rabino or Max at home, or a touch of inventiveness by Chory Castro on the visit, clarified a justified closed score on the pitch.

Hernán Rivero and Hugo Silveira were forgotten up front in a monotonous, sloppy process with few clear progressions with the ball.

Only at 38′ was there a clear chance to open the scoring and it belonged to the arachanes. A long ball that Silveira fought ended with Kidd going to the ground, the nine falling and the referee whistling a penalty with the endorsement of the VAR.

Mauro Estol took charge of executing it but Fabrizio Correa, flying over the left, managed to cover up to keep everything exactly the same.

This seemed to wake up the darsenero who had two clear ones at the end, first with a shot from Cristóbal and then with a header from Viera that Renzo Bacchia took on the line. 0-0 and at halftime.

In the add-on, Díaz’s team tried to stand up further on the field and thus had a few minutes of dominance and even a shot from Pablo García that forced another great save from the local goalkeeper.

Chopitea with a very well executed free kick made Bacchia fly once again to take a corner, when the defense of the Espinel team no longer gave so many guarantees.

A momentum that faded with the minutes, returning to being a process more fought over than anything else, where one’s own success or someone else’s mistake could be decisive.

That was how the Arachán goal appeared after a foul that gave him a free kick and which Mauro Brasil executed with such impressive quality that he got into the corner, beating Correa and scoring 1-0.

The coach of the Prado team looked for solutions on the bench, something that Espinel responded in the same way, reaching the final minutes with no major alternatives, but with emotions to come. .

The tie came after four minutes of added time and with the same recipe as the previous goal: a free kick. Jonathan Dos Santos was in charge of taking out a shot that Bacchia never saw and made it 1-1.

The locals never gave up and in the last play of the game, eight minutes after the hour, a corner kick headed in by an Arachán player was covered by Correa giving it a rebound and Thiago Galetto, a former River, put the final 2-1 and secured the first three points for Cerro Largo.
