CB Rinconada does not give any option to its rival (7-0)

The Rinconada Badminton Club has achieved a great victory by clearly and seamlessly imposing itself on the ANT CB Paracuellos Group, with nothing at stake since permanence is assured. The people from Madrid, in the draw, did not put up any resistance to Antonio Molina’s men, who continue to depend on themselves to get first place, key to the play-offs, since if they finished in first position they would play the semifinals at Fernando Martín.

The corner players would be noticed from the first match, a match where the corner pairing formed by Tom Wolfenden and Laura Molina managed to clearly surpass Marco Fernández and Myriam Alonso despite losing the second set (11-4, 10-11, 11 -7,11-3). Later, in the male and female double duels, the local team put the contest on track by winning both matches. Firstly, Tom Wolfenden and Jaume Pérez beat Marco Fernández and Alejandro de Pablo (11-4, 11-2, 11-5) while the pair formed by the corner players Bea Corrales and Claudia Leal also beat Nelly in three sets Iriberri and Noelia Garcia (11-3.11-4, 11-10).

With the doubles clearly resolved by the Sevillians, the individual duels would be the points to consolidate the corner superiority against the people of Madrid, and so it was. A great Leona Lee who continues to demonstrate her potential at just 17 years old easily beat Nelly Iriberri in three sets (11-4.11-4,11-5) while Carlos Piris returned to Fernando Martín to prove his quality when beating by three sets to Alejandro de Pablo from Madrid (11-6, 11-10. 11-10).

With all of this, Rinconada would already have the match in their pocket thanks to the 5-0 score that was already championing Fernando Martin. Even so, the cornerers did not want to lower the piston at any time, and continued with cruising speed towards the plenary session. Bea Corrales would finish her match before her count after the injury of her rival, Myriam Alonso, who retired after the first set favorable to the corner by 11-3. Finally, Jaume Pérez, disguised as a singles player despite being a doubles specialist, beat Marco Fernández in a great way and stood up all the corner fans for his game and for the full score achieved by the corner players.

After the match, the corner coach, Antonio Molina, described his team’s work as “outstanding”, as they gave up “only two sets in the entire match, a feat that is difficult to achieve in the highest national category. As much as Paracuellos came with everything done, I think it is important to value this score because not only is it full but also the fact of losing two sets of the seven games that have been played is clearly a bestiality ”. He went on to comment on the outcome of the game, a game that for him “has been a great breath of fresh air after the setback in Arjonilla. This result makes us recover the lead and continue on target. It is very important for us not only to qualify for the Play-Off, but to do so as the leader due to home court. For this we must comply against Granada and Valladolid to ensure that factor that is very important for us”.

The next day the corner team will visit the Zaidín neighborhood to face CB Granada, a team that still has options to be in the play-off and will show it in the match against Rinconada, the last train from Granada. For their part, Antonio Molina’s men have no margin for error and must assert their status as favorites in Granada.
