A native of Bahia who spent his entire career in Europe, Cauly Oliveira Souza is 27 years old and has signed a contract with the Squadron until 2026.
Football director Carlos Santoro commented:
“Cauly is a player known for scouts of the City Football Group both in Europe and in Latin America and our first option, within the selection process, analyzing the market alternatives. He stood out not only in the national championships he played in, but also in competitions with a higher level of competitiveness, such as the Europa League, and that was decisive for his decision. A name discussed and approved between the direction and technical commission of professor Renato Paiva”.
It will be his first time in Brazilian football. He defended four German teams – including Cologne – before arriving at Ludogorets, from Bulgaria, in 2020. There, he was a partner of right-back Cicinho and won five titles.
In the current season, he has 7 goals and 6 assists in 29 games. He is even second in the ranking of offensive plays created in the Europa League 2022/2023, behind only the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes, from Manchester United.
