Carmen Carro won this weekend the National Master’s N4 sub17 in Alfajarín (Zaragoza). The Valonsadero Badminton Club flyer, in her first year in her category, won the gold medal in the women’s singles event in one of the most important tournaments on the U17 national calendar.
The Soriana, who started as the seventh seed, developed a consistent game and a winning mentality throughout the competition, limiting her rivals’ chances of victory as much as possible. On Saturday, Carro entered the final phase, successfully overcoming the group phase, to defeat the number one seed in the quarterfinals, and the main candidate for the final victory, in two sets. Already on Sunday, she continued to demonstrate her good form by resolving her semifinal match 21-17, 21-9. Only in the final, the young promise of Valonsadero dropped a set to prevail in the end by a score of 21-14, 18-21, 21-11 in her favor.
In this way, Carmen Carro climbs back to the top of the podium in a national master’s degree and continues to prove that she is among the best young volantistas in Spanish badminton.
