TSG Hoffenheim presented the successor three days after the dismissal of coach André Breitenreiter (49). It will be Stuttgart’s ex-coach Pellegrino Matarazzo (45). BILD reported on this on Tuesday.
Today, on Wednesday, he is scheduled to lead his first training session at 3 p.m. Tomorrow he will be officially presented at a press conference.
Breitenreiter was released on Sunday evening after nine league games without a win and a crash in 14th place. Previously, he and his team suffered a 5-2 defeat against VfL Bochum.
Breitenreiter returned to the Bundesliga from FC Zurich last summer and succeeded Sebastian Hoeneß. The originally targeted goal of the European Cup is already a long way off after 19 match days. 15 points are missing in sixth place.
Ex-Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo was already assistant coach to Julian Nagelsmann (35) in Hoffenheim. He also stayed when Nagelsmann moved from Hoffenheim to Leipzig in 2019.

At the beginning of January 2020 he took over the second division team of VfB Stuttgart as successor to Tim Walter. He rose to the Bundesliga with the club.
In his first season in the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart finished ninth in the table under him. In his third season at VfB, he was able to secure 15th place on the last day of the game and thus again relegation in the Bundesliga.
After not winning a single one of the first nine games this season, Pellegrino Matarazzo was fired as VfB coach last October.
Hoffenheim’s first preferred candidate was Ralph Hasenhüttl (55, formerly of Leipzig and Southampton). The Austrian, who was also traded as a successor like ex-Gladbach coach Adi Hütter (52), had announced that he was not available.
