Borja Valle, former blue player: “In Cartagena there is no pressure and that can sometimes benefit”

Borja Valle (Ponferrada, 30 years old) is one of Cartagena’s threats, which hosts Oviedo tonight at the Cartagonova stadium (9:00 p.m., Movistar). It will be a special match for the attacker, who was at Oviedo in two stages. The most glorious was the first: promotion to the Second Division in Cádiz and return to professional football between 2014 and 2016. He returned five years later and played half a season in 2021, although he did not take ownership and the team did not get into play. -off. Valle is in a mature stage of his career and says he is happy at Cartagena, where he has scored five goals. If he scores today, he won’t celebrate it.

–How is life going?

“Okay, I’m happy. I lead a very quiet life and Cartagena is a very normal club. There is no excessively ambitious objective because we are the 17th budget of the Second Division. Here you work based on illusion, not pressure.

How does it end there?

They were two years behind. Manolo Breis, the sports director, called me a lot, but in the summer market of 2021 I decided to go to Dubai. He was left with the desire to sign me, me too, and after my time in Alcorcón everything happened very quickly. On July 8 I was in Cartagena.

Football in Dubai is…

–Completely different from the European one. There are no tactics, there are no swings, nor do the teams have a common goal. There are good players, but that’s it.

Did you notice the change?

-A lot. It was very abrupt, because if you are excited to compete at a high level it can be very hard for you. The training sessions, the little ambition… I didn’t find what I was expecting, because I was still looking forward to competing there.

–What is in Cartagena?

–A club in absolute growth. Since the president and the sports director arrived, their records have improved year after year. They have illusion, ambition, and as I said before zero pressure.

–You have competed in Deportivo, in the First Division, and in Oviedo, clubs with a large social mass, don’t you miss it?

-I’m doing well. There are moments of the season in which it is appreciated not to feel the need to win yes or yes. Sometimes it can benefit you. We work from the illusion and, for me, we are in a privileged situation.

–You have played in many clubs in recent years, have you found your place?

-I do not know i do not know. I have a contract here and I’m happy, but I’m very far from my people. I will have to value everything. In sports I am very happy. I have played practically everything, I feel important and valued and I identify with the coach’s style. In the end that’s the basics for a player.

–How is life when you change cities almost every year?

–It costs a lot and as the years go by it becomes heavier. I left home at the age of 18 and have hardly been back since. With the birth of my son it becomes even heavier for me, but football is like that.

–Define the Cartagena game.

We are a happy team. The coach always says so in press conferences. Within our disorder we have a certain order and sometimes we appear in attack zones that are not usual. We are convinced of what we do. The definition is gay team.

–Come on, the opposite of Oviedo…

-(Series). We are completely different styles, yes.

What game do you imagine?

–Super complicated and with few goals, because Oviedo is a very, very difficult team to beat.

– Do you think that the current Oviedo is similar to that of three years ago, when you were there?

–I don’t think the styles of Cervera and El Cuco are different at all. They are difficult teams to beat, they make it very difficult for you from set pieces and they compete.

–Does he still get along with the Cuckoo?

I have a wonderful personal relationship with him. We have separated the sports issue from the personal one, which for me is at odds. I can say that Cuco is one of the people with whom I have the best relationship.

–And that was not the owner…

–For me, on the one hand, there are the people and on the other hand, there are the sporting decisions that they can make.

– Beer

I don’t know him very well, I’ve faced him once, but his career is impeccable.

–What went wrong in your second spell at Oviedo?

On a personal level, I felt privileged. I was able to play more or less, but I was fine. For me it was positive, although I was left with the itch of playing with fans at the Tartiere. I signed with Oviedo because I was excited. On a sporting level, the goal was to be at the top and it couldn’t be, but I feel proud.

– Do you follow Oviedo?

-I am very attentive and I find out everything that happens. I have many friends. Like Dani Bautista or Jimmy, who seems like a great guy to me and we agree on the same idea of watching football.

–If he scores, will he celebrate it?

–I don’t celebrate the goals I score at clubs I was in. I understand it that way, it seems more ethical and respectful to the rival and it would not come out.
