Badminton Oviedo falls with honor in Huelva and continues second

Badminton Oviedo stood up in Huelva to an unstoppable IES La Orden that remains the leader of group A. Those led by Fran Dacal fought in each of the matches and although they took the match until the last round to find out the winner, it was not enough with their effort and fell defeated.

Despite the adverse result, the carbayones remain in second place in the standings with nine units, so they do not return from Andalusia with bad feelings. “I feel a bit sorry for the result because we were competitive, I’m happy in general terms,” said Fran Dacal, coach of Badminton Oviedo, after the defeat of his team. The first point of the match went to Huelva, who beat the Oviedo duo made up of Alberto Zapico and Amaia Torralba 1-0 in the mixed doubles. Then in three straight sets Zapic and Álvaro Leal in the men’s doubles defeated Eliecer Ojeda and Alejandro Pérez (11-10, 11-2, 11-5) to partially tie the match 1-1. In the women’s doubles, Kristina Sotomayor and Amaia Torralba fought until the last point but in the fourth set they lost to the locals, who signed a 2-1 victory in favor of IES La Orden after the round of doubles matches. Oviedo ends its participation in Group A of the Top 10 Iberdrola at home and receives San Fernando Valencia in the Asturian capital next Saturday, February 25, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Corredoria Arena Sports Center.
