At Laura and María’s house, the judo champion sisters

We visit the home of a world judo champion, who tells us how she has reached the top of the drawer in her judo competition category. María Gómez is a Spanish cadet, junior and senior judoka champion, third in the junior world and medalist on the European international circuit.

“I was 6 years old when I started, and it’s been 40 or 42 years doing judo,” explains Maria’s father, who has been her coach since she was little. At the end of the corridor is her sister Laura, champion of the European Youth Olympic Games.

His little brother, Javier, is not far behind either.

“It’s hard because we have to balance studies, training and having a bit of a social life,” admits Laura. His brother Javier, 13 years old, is the youngest of the family but he is not far behind either: he is already champion of Spain. With them we learn concepts such as the sweep, which consists of sweeping the foot that advances from the opponent.

A report that we have been able to see in the program Wide is Castilla-La Manchawhich brings us closer to the traditions, news and gastronomy of the region and which is broadcast from Monday to Friday, at 8:55 p.m. on CMM.
