Arrest warrant issued for Bengals’ Mixon

An arrest warrant has been issued for Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon on one count of aggravated menacing, according to a police affidavit obtained by Local 12’s Cassy Arsenault.

Mixon, 26, pointed a firearm at a female victim and said, “They should bust you in the face” and “The police can’t catch me,” according to the affidavit.

The incident reportedly occurred in Cincinnati on January 21 before the Bengals’ wild-card round matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

“The club is aware that misdemeanor charges have been filed against Joe Mixon,” the Bengals said in a statement, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby. “The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time.”

Peter Schaffer, the agent of Mixonsaid the charges will be dropped on Friday.

“It was a hasty decision,” Schaffer told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. “They will drop the charges first thing in the morning. I truly believe that the police have an obligation to do their job before pressing charges, because of the damage that can be done to a person’s reputation. highest standard. Because I don’t play with people’s lives.”

Aggravated threats are considered a first degree misdemeanor under the Ohio penal code.

Mixon was charged in 2014 after punching a student in the face and sending her to the hospital. The Oklahoma product accepted a plea deal that included one year of probation and 100 hours of community service. He was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine due to the incident.

Cincinnati selected Mixon with the 48th overall pick in 2017. He was initially considered a first-round talent before concerns were raised regarding his character.

This season was Mixon’s sixth in the NFL.
