Argentina defeated Australia and obtained their second consecutive victory

The Argentine national team achieved a new victory this Monday for the Indoor Hockey World Cup, which is played on the track in Pretoria, South Africa, this time against Australia, 3-1, corresponding to group B.

Juan Eleicegui (14 and 18m) and Nehuén Ayala Gallo (33m) converted for the national team, while Jake Staines (34m) scored for the Australians.

Argentina, which in its absolute debut achieved a historic victory over Iran by 5-4, will face the Czech Republic on Tuesday, starting at 9.20, and the match will be televised by Star+. Then they will have as rivals the United States (Wednesday, 11:40) and South Africa (Thursday, 4:40).

So far, Argentina leads group B with 6 points, followed by Iran and the United States (3); South Africa and Australia (1); and Czech Republic (0).

The Argentine team, led by the Italian Massimo Lanzano, is twentieth in the ranking of the specialty and current Pan-American champion after beating the United States in a final held in Spring City, Philadelphia, in June 2021.

In his first participation in the Indoor World Cup, he will seek to advance to the final round, for which he must qualify among the top four in his area.

Group A is made up of Austria -defending champion-, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Namibia, the Netherlands -2015 champion- and New Zealand.

The 6th Indoor Hockey World Cup should have been held in Belgium in February of last year, but was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was finally scheduled in South Africa, between yesterday and next Saturday.
