The life of Andries Noppert seemed to have been copied from a boys’ book last year. In his first full season with Go Ahead Eagles, the goalkeeper earned a transfer to SC Heerenveen and saw his game there crowned with a starting place for the Orange during the World Cup in Qatar.

After the World Cup he reported back to SC Heerenveen and speculation about a departure started. “I know that Ajax told my agent that I was on a list”, Noppert looks back heroes. “Great, but what good is it to me? If you are not at the top of such a list, you also have to ask yourself whether you want to go to such a club. I have proven that I can handle the level of the Dutch national team and I had that unexpected.”

“I have indicated to our management that I would like it if a club that would benefit both Heerenveen and me, but they should not ask for ten million,” the goalkeeper continues. “Heerenveen is my club, but if I could make another sporting and financial step, I would like to take that chance. And I don’t care if it’s Spain, England, Germany or Italy. As long as it’s a club where my family and I feel at home. I don’t see myself at a real top club. I think I feel more comfortable with a mid-engine.”
