Alpine skiing – Worlds: Meillard only 6th in the combined, Pinturault in gold – rts.ch

Loïc Meillard took 6th place overall at the Worlds in Courchevel. Alexis Pinturault won gold ahead of Austrians Marco Schwarz and Raphael Haaser.

Big disappointment for the Swiss delegation in Savoie. Favorite of the event, Meillard finished 6th, 1”20 behind the Courchevel skier. It was logically during the super-G round that the Valaisan saw his hopes of a charm vanish.

Too nice in his skiing, Meillard could not make up for his morning delay of 1”34 in slalom, where he finally took only 14 hundredths from the Frenchman.

On the highest step of the podium, we therefore find a Pinturault master at home. Author of a magnificent super-G, the Habs were able to resist the pressure on the short turn. He is ahead of Schwarz by 10 hundredths. The defending champion can also blame himself after having made a huge mistake at the end of the course. Without that, the Austrian would have kept his title.

Pinturault adds a 6th world medal to his list, the 2nd in gold after that of the combined in Are in 2019. Schwarz meanwhile adorns himself with a 5th medal at the Worlds. The podium is completed by Raphael Haaser who imitates his sister Ricarda, tanned the day before during the women’s combined.

Murisier stumbles on the 1st door

Marco Odermatt eliminated in the super-G and Stefan Rogentin present to familiarize himself with the track, only Justin Murisier was still in contention with Meillard. Sixth at the end of the super-G, the Valaisan had the opportunity to confirm his 4th place in Beijing. But the Bagnard experienced elimination during the slalom by straddling the 1st gate.
