European champion Alina Böhm from JZ Heubach was able to win a fight in the class up to 78 kg and lost in the quarter-finals to Israeli champion Inbar Lanir. In the consolation round, too, the 24-year-old from Württemberg lost to Fanny Estelle Posvite from France, taking seventh place.
Losseni Kone of SC Alstertal-Langenhorn left the mat victorious in the over 100kg category against Jose Nova Alcantara of the Dominican Republic and Dzhamal Gamzatkhanov of Azerbaijan. In the quarter-finals, the 21-year-old found no way against Tsetsentsengel Odkhuu from Mongolia and then met Jaegu Youn from South Korea in the consolation round, most recently third at the Grand Slam in Paris. That fight was lost after four minutes with Wazaari scoring and Kone also finished in seventh place.
The second in the world rankings, Anna-Maria Wagner from KJC Ravensburg (up to 78 kg) lost in her opening match with a Wazaari rating to Patricia Sampaio from Portugal. Olympic silver medalist Eduard Trippel from JC Rüsselsheim (up to 90 kg) was eliminated from the competition in round two against Klen Kristofer Kaljulaid from Estonia.
