The XFL has been around since 2001 and was originally created by the World Wrestling Federation (now Word Wrestling Entertainment, WWE) and the TV network NBC. At the time, however, it only existed for one year. In 2018, WWE boss Vince McMahon announced the restart and ran the league before it was bought in 2020 by actor and ex-wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, among others, who is now the head of the XFL. The 2020 season was canceled after five match days due to the corona pandemicn, hasn’t been played since.
