abandonment of Andreescu to Hua Lin, final Tsurenko-Lin

The Canadian Bianca Andreescu, seeded N.1, gave up Saturday in the semi-finals of the WTA 250 tournament in Hua Lin (Thailand) against the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko, who will face the Chinese Zhu Lin on Sunday in the final.

Visibly hit in the right shoulder, Andreescu, winner of the US Open 2019 and current 42nd in the world, had to stop after 1h35 of play when she was trailing 7-5, 4-0 by Tsurenko.

The Ukrainian, 33 and ranked 136th in the world, qualifies for her first final since Brisbane four years ago.

Tsurenko, who will try to win a fifth WTA title on Sunday, will face in the final the Chinese Zhu Lin, 54th in the world, who dominated her compatriot Wang Xinyu, seeded N.7, 6-2, 6-4.

At the recent Australian Open, 29-year-old Zhu Lin knocked out No.6 seeded Greek Maria Sakkari in the third round before being knocked out in three sets by Belarusian Victoria Azarenka in the round of 16.
