In Plumelec in Morbihan, Céline and Mathieu Syre launched the idea of creating this new sporting activity in March.

By throwing a bottle into the sea to test local desires, the nets of badminton activity opened by immediately attracting several enthusiasts of this discipline very accessible to all. The idea germinated in the minds of the couple Syre, Céline and Matthieu, young 33-year-old Méléciens, residents in the town since March 2015.

“My husband and I wanted to get back into sport and badminton is a sport we both love. Moreover, there was talk of doing this together.

Suddenly, by extending this desire to the whole of the population, with the material help of the town hall and the support of Pierre-Yves Juhel, assistant to the associative life, the idea takes shape and becomes reality.

“At the moment, we are at trial sessions, in order to probe the desires of this sport in the municipality. Considering the turn this is taking, I think that the association will be created in March”, observes Céline.

Twenty potential players

In fact, after a few discovery and contact-making sessions on Thursday at the multipurpose room, and with regard to the registration form made available, there would be around twenty potential licensees when the engine starts. The initiator does not want to rush the steps.

To begin with, we don’t want to go too fast and will only offer leisure for teenagers and adults in order to properly set up the association. We will then consider the competition for the graduates who wish and why not also teaching the youngest.

Everything will depend on the evolution of the association afterwards. “We are happy to see that people like it so much and for that we would like to thank the town hall of Plumelec, which found us a slot and graciously lent us the municipal hall for the time of the test. The town hall even offered us support for the creation of the association. It’s really nice to be able to count on this support, especially when you’re new to this kind of project. »
