69-58: CAB Estepona and Francis Tomé achieve their first win against Recoletas Zamora

The third time lucky. CAB Estepona achieved its first victory this Saturday with Francis Tomé against Recoletas Zamora (69-58). The malagueñas wanted to set their pace from the first bars of the game, with a very intense game and with constant rotations. A triple by Ana Pocek and a basket by Noelia Masià (9-4, min. 5) gave a first lead, to which was added an 8-0 to close the first period with a 19-11 at the end of the first ten minutes of play.

A triple by Snezana Aleksic allowed CAB Estepona to double their rivals, who continued to base their game on Ezeigbo. A basket by Ornella Santana brought the Castilian-Leonese team within four points (31-27, min. 17) and the local technician stopped it. Then, five points in a row from the junior Lucía Cazorla not only returned the +11, but also got the public. Only a triple by Sara Castro allowed the visitors to go below ten points at halftime: 38-30.

After passing through the locker room, Pocek returned to attacking in the early stages and catapulted the lead to 13 points (43-30, min. 23) before seven straight for Recoletas Zamora, who was not willing to give up and seemed to find other ways to score. A triple by the German Hartmann caused Tomé’s timeout and that is the visitors came close on the scoreboard (45-42). Two baskets from Ezeigbo gave the visitors hope again, who left 52-48 at the change of quarter.

With everything to decide the overturned public and Recoletas Zamora noticing the lack of rotation, CAB Estepona opened the last period with a triple by Carla Viegas. And after it, a triple by Aleksic and the first basket by Tiffany Brown in the match, which returned the double digits to the difference (60-50, min. 32). Although Lahuerta put his team within seven, Vasconcelos’ men did not see the hoop any more, closing the match with a 4-0 run to provide Francis Tomé’s first victory (69-58).
