The third time lucky. CAB Estepona achieved its first victory this Saturday with Francis Tomé against Recoletas Zamora (69-58). The malagueñas wanted to set their pace from the first bars of the game, with a very intense game and with constant rotations. A triple by Ana Pocek and a basket by Noelia Masià (9-4, min. 5) gave a first lead, to which was added an 8-0 to close the first period with a 19-11 at the end of the first ten minutes of play.
A triple by Snezana Aleksic allowed CAB Estepona to double their rivals, who continued to base their game on Ezeigbo. A basket by Ornella Santana brought the Castilian-Leonese team within four points (31-27, min. 17) and the local technician stopped it. Then, five points in a row from the junior Lucía Cazorla not only returned the +11, but also got the public. Only a triple by Sara Castro allowed the visitors to go below ten points at halftime: 38-30.
After passing through the locker room, Pocek returned to attacking in the early stages and catapulted the lead to 13 points (43-30, min. 23) before seven straight for Recoletas Zamora, who was not willing to give up and seemed to find other ways to score. A triple by the German Hartmann caused Tomé’s timeout and that is the visitors came close on the scoreboard (45-42). Two baskets from Ezeigbo gave the visitors hope again, who left 52-48 at the change of quarter.
With everything to decide the overturned public and Recoletas Zamora noticing the lack of rotation, CAB Estepona opened the last period with a triple by Carla Viegas. And after it, a triple by Aleksic and the first basket by Tiffany Brown in the match, which returned the double digits to the difference (60-50, min. 32). Although Lahuerta put his team within seven, Vasconcelos’ men did not see the hoop any more, closing the match with a 4-0 run to provide Francis Tomé’s first victory (69-58).
