2028 Paralympic program confirmed – Luces del Siglo

CANCUN, Q. ROO.- The Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games Organizing Committee presented its program of 22 disciplines. According to the International Paralympic Committee, about 33 different sports applied to be part of this fair. At the moment, the incorporation of surfing and climbing is also being analyzed, a decision that will be made until the end of 2023.

Among the disciplines approved are taekwondo, badminton, boccia, soccer for the blind, wheelchair tennis, table tennis, goal ball, judo for the visually impaired, canoeing, wheelchair basketball, archery, para-athletics, powerlifting, para-swimming, cycling and triathlon.

“All the international federations that submitted their applications are to be congratulated for the quality of their submissions as they underscore that all sports are going from strength to strength,” said Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee.

At Tokyo 2020, Mexico finished 19th in the overall medal table, one of its best performances at the Paralympics, where there were seven gold medals in para-athletics, para-swimming, powerlifting and taekwondo. She added to the two silver and 13 bronze medals, in the same disciplines, in addition to a third place in judo.
