Zabystřan attacked for victory from third place after the first round. In the second race, the two-time Olympic participant moved into the lead, beating the second Jeremie Lagier from France by just five hundredths of a second.

Thus, Zabystřan will leave Lake Placid as one of the most successful participants in the event. He also won gold in super-G and giant slalom, bronze in combined.

Twenty-two-year-old Otcovská won the race with a mass start of 12.5 km. Although she missed three times on the first item, after that she did not miss on the shooting range and gradually moved from the 28th place to the highest level. In Lake Placid, she took care of winning the fourth precious metal from the biathlon and the fifth gold overall.
