The midfielder has terminated his contract with Laredo de Segunda Federación to re-enroll in the pitcher team, where he played last year

Once the massive exit operation was concluded, Portugalete had to recover troops. Aritz de Miguel, Mikel Gurrutxaga, Mikel Álvaro, Txomin Barcina, Quicala Bari and Edu Ubis have left. So far, only the gaps in the first two had been filled with the arrivals of Aritz Castro and Beñat Garro. Therefore, there was a lot of work to be done in the offices. Well, as EL CORREO has been able to find out, the next to arrive in the pitching squad will be Xabi Naveira, who can play both as a midfielder and as a winger.

The midfielder from Sestao is well known for La Florida. After thirteen years in Lezama, he landed last year in Florida, where he was able to leave glimpses of the quality that made him an international under-16 and under-17. He played 39 games, 18 starting and 21 coming off the bench, scoring five goals. Numbers that made him the team’s fourth top scorer along with Sergio García and Jon Urkiza. His good performance attracted the interest of Laredo, in the Second Federation, and together with Ander Santamaría, Oli and David Nates from Biscay, he headed for ‘Charles’.

However, Xabi Naveira has not had the expected role in the Cantabrian team. It is true that he has participated in all the days held so far, but he rather fulfilled the role of rotation player. He comes from playing four home games and another thirteen as a substitute, adding just over 490 minutes and scoring one goal. Laredo’s qualifying situation was not an incentive to stay either, since it is currently in the relegation zone. The club has already announced his termination by mutual agreement and, in the next few hours, his transfer to Portugalete will take place.
