What Nedvěd is losing because of the scandal surrounding Juventus’ accounting

He won the Ballon d’Or. He collected trophies as a player, but also in the role of vice president of Juventus. It seemed that Pavel Nedvěd would choose between a career in the management of UEFA or the Czech association. But now the shadow of the affair surrounding Juve’s accounting has fallen on him.

The days when Italy’s Serie A was the showcase of world football are long gone. Compared to the flourishing English Premier League, they can only pale with envy in Italy. Professional football in the Apennine Peninsula is plagued by low viewership, outdated infrastructure and a waning youth interest in football.

And now came another blow. The entire sports world is watching the Juventus Turin affair with interest. In the period of the coronavirus crisis, the club manipulated the data in its accounting in such a way as to comply with the rules of financial fair play, the economic regulation announced by the UEFA regulations. According to the indictment, how did Juventus artificially increase its assets? And how did he manage player salaries during the coronavirus crisis? What other punishments are hanging in the air? The protagonists of the Water Bearers podcast talk about all this in the new episode.

In the first phase of the affair, the courts declared all accusations inconclusive. But then new facts appeared. And in the renewed proceedings, Juventus heard a harsh verdict: club officials from the incriminated period were banned from football and Juventus lost 15 points in the Serie A table.

How does coach Allegri react to this? How would Juventus be affected if they find themselves out of the European Cups? Can the management of UEFA take revenge on Juventus for the upcoming project of the elite Super League? The Water Bearers sought answers to these questions as well.

Among those punished is former Czech national team captain and Golden Ball winner Pavel Nedvěd. The former vice-president of Juventus received an eight-month ban from Italian football.

“It’s a big blow for Nedvěd’s further official career. We talked about him several times as the best candidate for the chairman of the football association, but that’s simply not possible now,” thinks Jaromír Bosák.

African exchange of guards

In the new episode, Nosič vody focused on Czech football from a different perspective. After a long break, the Fortuna League will start this weekend. In it, Sparta, Slavia and Pilsen are fighting for the top spots. The aforementioned trio did not slack off in the winter and strengthened themselves massively.

Which African players have left or may leave Slavia, who, on the contrary, has appeared in it, and why, according to Karel Tvaroh, stopper Igoh Ogbu can become the new star of the Czech top flight?

The Water Carriers also dwell on the Pilsen story about the search for a strong shareholder or investor and also think about the other possible fate of Adam Karabec, who after the winter improvement of the summer squad in the eyes of Priske’s coaching staff will not fit into the starting line-up.

Karel Tvaroh compares the situation of the promising Spartan to the recent past of Nor Martin Odegaard: “By starting to play regularly, he grew into a great footballer.”

And it was Odegaard who celebrated a big victory at the weekend. His team, Arsenal, beat struggling Manchester United in a Premier League smash. The London club is thus well on its way to winning the title, which it last celebrated in 2004. “The Gunners put in a great performance. I don’t hide that I’m a fan of them. But even unbiased spectators probably had to state that the goal scored at the very end of the game tipped the victory in Arsenal’s favor fairly,” says Luděk Mádl about Sunday’s game.

Giants in trouble

On the other hand, struggling teams Liverpool and Chelsea are in the opposite form, having drawn 0:0 in their mutual match. Why has Klopp’s intense football machine stalled and why are Chelsea experimenting with so-called baseball contracts for their many new players? And how will he break down the gigantic winter expenditure of 190 million euros in the accounting?

And that’s not all. Who should or shouldn’t wear a camera on the field? What did Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zincenko surprise Jaromír Bosák, Luďek Mádl and Karel Tvaroh? Why can there be a major reversal in the second Czech league? How did podcasters feel about the opening spring round of the German Bundesliga? What perspective did Adam Hložek suggest? Find out all this and more in the new episode of Water Bearers!
