West Ham continues in the English Cup, Real Madrid faltered in the Spanish league

West Ham footballers advanced to the 4th round of the FA Cup when they won at Brentford 1:0.

The “Hammers” lost to the same opponent eight days ago at their stadium in the Premier League, but the revenge in the oldest competition was successful. Tomáš Souček started in their starting line-up, Vladimír Coufal, who missed the league match with Leeds a week ago due to injury, was not even on the bench.

The cup match was decided in the 79th minute by Said Benrahma, who replaced Souček ten minutes earlier.

Real lost to Villarreal

Real Madrid players lost 1:2 in the 16th round of the Spanish league at the Villarreal stadium and did not use the chance to replace arch-rival Barcelona at the top of the table. The defending champions stayed second on a score, with the Catalans facing fellow Madrid side Atlético in Sunday’s clash.

All Villarreal goals came in the second half. In the 47th minute, home team Pino opened the scoring after Mendy’s mistake. After less than an hour of play in the penalty area, Foyth played with his hand and Benzema equalized from the penalty kick.

But the joy did not last long for the reigning Ballon d’Or winner and his teammates. In three minutes, Gerard Moreno returned the “Yellow Submarine” lead from another penalty for Alab’s hand. Real could not equalize from the final pressure and suffered the second league defeat of the season.

Juventus is second

Juventus footballers beat Udine 1:0 in the 17th round of the Italian league and jumped to second place in the incomplete table. The hot Turin team scored in Serie A for the eighth time in a row without conceding a goal.

In the first half, Juventus did not confirm the excellent form from the last matches, on the contrary, Szczesny kept the favorites several times. His goalkeeper counterpart Silvestri again flashed against Rugani’s header.

Shortly after the change of sides, Kean missed with an acrobatic kick in a good position, but the “Old Lady” players waited a long time for another great chance. It wasn’t until the 86th minute that Danilo decided from close range after an ideal pass from substitute Chiesa. Eighth Udine extended its wait for a win to nine rounds.

Fiorentina, with Czech midfielder Antonín Barák on the bench, defeated Sassuolo 2:1 at home. All goals came in the second half. Home team Saponara opened the scoring shortly after arriving on the field, in the 57th minute Berardi responded with a penalty kick. Just before the end, the visitors also played a handball in the penalty area, and another substitute player “Fialek” González also converted the penalty.

Inter Milan on the field of the newcomer Monza lost the victory in the set time and drew 2:2. Darmian put the favorite in the lead in the 10th minute, Ciurria equalized just a minute later. Argentina’s world champion Martínez returned the lead to the visitors in the first half after a mistake by defender Marího. However, the “Nerazzurri” did not add insurance and in the third minute of regulation, Caldirola, a pupil of Inter, equalized.
