Vinicius Jr was on his feet, Real Madrid lacked realism

Vinicius Jr was on his feet, Real Madrid lacked realism. Panoramic.

TOPS/FLOPS – The good part of Vinicius Jr, the inefficiency of Madrid or the parades of Remiro: find out what caught the attention of the editorial staff after the match between the Merengues and the Basques (0-0).

TOPS

Vinicius Jr’s Legs of Fire

He was in good shape. This Sunday evening, Vinicius Jr shone on his left side. The Brazilian was at the origin or at the conclusion of many Real Madrid chances, in particular through his disconcerting dribbles, his fantastic accelerations or his beautiful inspirations in the transmissions. Unfortunately for him, and for the Merengue, he fished in the finish.

Alejandro Remiro determining

Determining. Alejandro Remiro had a lot to do this Sunday evening against Real Madrid’s offensive armada. But the Real Sociedad goalkeeper responded by making seven saves, some of them completely decisive, such as against Vinicius Jr (71e). A magnificent performance which allows the Basque club to return from the Spanish capital with a good point.

FLOPS

Madrid’s inefficiency

A lack of realism. Very good in the game, with many situations (20 shots, 7 on target), Real Madrid was ineffective in the opposing area this Sunday evening. Vinicius Jr, the most prominent White House player, missed several great chances. But Karim Benzema, Rodrygo or even Modric – who was in a position to score late in the game -, to name a few, were not more successful. It is because of these shortcomings in the finish that Carlo Ancelotti’s men did not win.

Alexander Sorloth missed the mark

If he struggled on the entire front of the attack, Alexander Sorloth, very good since the start of the season, missed the boat this Sunday evening. Just after returning from the locker room, the Norwegian, perfectly served in space by Takefusa Kubo, completely missed his face-to-face with Thibaut Courtois, crossing his shot too much. A (big) missed opportunity that could have changed the game.
