Venezuela qualifies for the next round of the South American U-20 soccer tournament

Venezuela beat Chile 1-0 on the fifth and final day of the group stage and qualified for the final hexagonal of the South American U-20 Soccer Championship.

Brayan Alcócer, a Venezuelan forward from Puerto Ordaz, scored the difference penalty, in a match held at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, reports the AVN portal.

The game remained close with a strong defense from Venezuela, which saw two yellow cards; one for defender Alejandro Cova and another for Santiago Gómez.

With this victory, Vinotinto accumulated two victories and placed second in Group B, below Uruguay and above Ecuador.

Next week Venezuela will continue the fight for a place in the U-20 Soccer World Cup by facing Paraguay on Tuesday, January 31, and Brazil on Friday, February 3.
