The NFL fined Tom Bradyquarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with $16,444 for the sweep he gave a Dallas player Cowboys in the wild card game last week.

The action occurred in the 14-31 loss that the Bucs suffered the previous Monday that left them out of the fight to reach Super Bowl LVII next February.

In the final quarter of that game, Tampa Bay wide receiver Chris Godwin fumbled a ball that Cowboys defensive back Malik Hooker recovered; in frustration at the impending deletion Brady dove with his leg extended to trip Hookerwho was shot down.

It’s the second time in the season that the winner of seven Super Bowl rings is fined for tripping an opponent.

The first time, when paid $11,139, it was after the game in week five of the regular season in which the Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 21-15.

In that game Brady kicked defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who earlier had knocked down the quarterback in an action for which the Falcons player was penalized for unnecessary roughness.

The 2022 season was one of the worst in the 23-year career from Brady. It was the first in which he finished with a losing record, eight wins and nine losses, despite which he led his team to the Playoffs in which they were eliminated in the first round.

Tom Brady ends his contract with the Bucs next March; then he will become, for the second time in his career, a free agent; he still hasn’t decided if he will continue on the West Florida team.

The 45-year-old veteran arrived in Tampa Bay in the 2020 season after winning six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. With the Buccaneers he added another Vince Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl LV.

Brady announced his retirement from the NFL in February of last year, a decision he regretted 40 days later to play the 2022 season; He has now said that he will take time to decide if he returns for his 24th season.
