This is Andy Granda, proposed as male judoka of the year by the International Federation of this sport (IJF), according to this entity on its website.

Granda, who is a native of Matanzas, is among the nominees in the category of best judoka of the year at the IFJ Judo Awards. Next to him are in that same section: Abe Hifumi, Tato Grigalashvili, Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir and Davlat Bobonov.

The 30-year-old Cuban athlete won the gold medal at the World Judo Championship in 2022. In addition, he was a medalist at the 2019 Pan American Games.

Between the years 2014 and 2022, Andy Granda has won six medals at the Pan American Judo Championships.

These annual awards where Granda is nominated are voted on by the public. This is done with the aim of recognizing the best athletes, ippons, among other categories. Voting is open from January 12 in the IFJ website and will close on January 31. The winners will be announced in February at the 2023 Paris Grand Slam.
