The TAD maintains the sanction to Lewandowski, who will not be able to play against Atlético

The Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) has confirmed the sanction to the Polish Robert Lewandowskforward of Barcelonafrom three game suspension imposed by the Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and confirmed by Appeal.

The body has ruled on the merits of the matter by denying Barcelona’s request after an ordinary judge decided on the 29th to grant the precautionary suspension of the sanction as long as this event did not occur, a request that the TAD already denied in its day, a determination that allowed the Pole to play the league derby against Espanyol of the 31.

This decision adopted by the TAD this Wednesday would force Lewandowski to miss the next gamesthe first of them before the Atletico Madrid on the sixteenth day of LaLiga Santander, although according to the specialized portal ‘Iusport’, Barcelona could file a new appeal before the judge and request another precautionary measure.

“The same thing in procedural law is that the precautionary measure is rendered null and void when the resolution falls on the merits. But given the literal wording of the order, Barça could understand that they do not need to request the precautionary measure again, but simply file an appeal against the new decision“, indicates ‘Iusport’, who understands that”the club should request the precautionary measure again since today’s resolution exhausts administrative channels and is executive. And the judge has not ruled on this yet.”

Lewandowski was punished with three games after being sent off in the match against Osasunaplayed on the last day before the World Cup in Qatar 2022, by the referee Jesús Gil Manzano and then made an apparently inconsiderate gesture before withdrawing from the grass that the referee recorded in his minutes.

Barcelona’s allegations were not addressed by the federation committees and the appeal before the TAD did not prosper either, already in December, which denied it the precautionary suspension of the sanction, a circumstance that did prosper before the contentious judge.
