The friendly matches that will be played by the senior men’s and women’s teams will be one of the great attractions of the commemorative events of the centenary of the Catalan Basketball Federation (FCBQ), which will continue throughout 2023 at different points of Catalonia, and whose starting gun was given this Monday in a massive presentation in La Pedrera, under the leadership of the journalist Olga Visa.
Ferran Aril, president of the catalan federation and vice president of Hispaniola, revealed that the idea is for the women’s team to play in Girona in the month of May and that the men’s event will take place in Manresa at the end of June, although the dispute of this match presents more problems at the logistical level, since it will coincide by dates with the preparation phase of the World championship which will be held this summer, which may complicate the presence of some of the Catalan internationals, and it will also coincide with some of the acts of the Spanish Federation, which is also celebrating its centenary.

The intention of the Catalan Federation is that sports events are also mixed with other cultural ones, such as a traveling exhibition throughout the territory, and that they extend over time until the end of 2023. The dispute over the Copa del Rey Basketball in Badalona will also enhance these events and during the dates of its celebration several parallel events will be organized, including a school competition.

During the presentation of the acts, they also participated Anna Caula, Secretary of Sports of the Generalitat, and David Escudécouncilor for sports of the Barcelona City Council, the ball and the official logo of the centenary were also presented and a video was broadcast with athletes and different personalities congratulating the Federation, with Pau Gasol and Ricky Rubio among them.
