The Rebelles of Cégep de Sorel-Tracy draw up their mid-season report

The Rebelles are in a good position halfway through their season in the various sports practiced at Cégep de Sorel-Tracy. The academic efforts of student-athletes are also rewarded since their course success rate reaches 92%.

Badminton

Alexis Hogue, who is in his second year with the Rebelles, has already achieved one of his goals, which is to win a regular season tournament. Accompanied by his coach Daniel Valois, he will do everything possible to achieve his next goal: to earn a place on the podium at the RSEQ Provincial Collegiate Championship.

Basketball famous D2

The team led by Alexandre Martel, Louis-Georges Mandeville and Justine Labrie ranks third in the league with a record of six wins and one loss. His goal is to go as far as possible in the various championships at the end of the season.

Basketball masculin D2

The team struggled this fall, failing to find a way to victory and recording seven losses. She finished fourth out of five in pool B. The troops of Jean Mathieu and Louis-Georges Mandeville can aspire to a better end to the season as five out of six games will be against teams from their pool B.

Cross-country

A first for Jimmy Raymond-Lacroix’s troops was achieved this fall when Édouard Guévremont and Béatrice Geoffrion reached the necessary classification time to allow the Rebelles to access the RSEQ Provincial Championship and present a team there. for both the female and male component. Édouard also finished 77th out of 188 runners.

Esports

The team led by Julien Landry-Trépanier had great performances in pre-season, which allowed them to join the D2 League in the League of Legends game. The level of this division being very high, the team struggles to win matches (five defeats in five games).

Hockey masculin D1

Éric Messier’s team draws a positive balance sheet of the first half as it finds itself in eighth place in the League with a record of 11 wins, eight losses, one overtime loss and two shootout losses. The team took part in a four-day trip to Boston and are hopeful of going all the way this year.

Swimming

The team of Kim Perron-Coulombe and Florence Gagné has already taken part in two competitions this fall. While all the athletes have improved their times in at least one swim, several athletes have already reached standards ensuring their participation in the RSEQ Provincial Collegiate Championship next April. With two competitions still to go, the athletes will be able to pursue their goals.

Women’s and men’s indoor soccer

The two teams led by Serge Dufour, Michel Lajoie and Rose Salvail had a training camp all fall in preparation for the season which will take place this winter. A season of four tournaments and a league championship await them, while the athletes making up the teams will be known shortly.

D2 Women’s Volleyball

This young team finished fifth out of nine with seven wins and five losses. Led by Élizabeth Mandeville, Patricia Pelletier and Olivier Chapdelaine, the team will try to maintain the rhythm to reach the playoffs. The student-athletes will be in action on Sunday, January 29 at the Cégep gymnasiums as the Rebelles host the fourth tournament of the season. They will play in Section A at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Admission is free.

Volleyball mixte

The team led by Jean-Christophe Morin and Yohan Pagé is having a smashing start to the season, winning an exhibition tournament in Sorel-Tracy and an LTVQ tournament in D4 mixed 6 x 6. Others tournaments are planned and access to the D3 is envisaged.
