The Olympic dream of a Czech beauty. She can become world champion even before that

She called a press conference to announce major career news. And he will definitely not be bored. Twenty-eight-year-old boxer Lucie Sedláčková gladly accepted new challenges, the first one will come already in March. “I will fight the Englishwoman Chapman (5-0 record), who is ranked sixth in the world, and we will fight for the WBC world champion belt,” the Czech revealed the first happy news.

Another mission will come a few months later. Sedláčková will move from the professional ring to the amateur ring, where she will try to make another dream come true. “This year is the qualification for next year’s Olympic Games in Paris. I take it as a huge motivation and a dream come true, if it succeeds,” explains the native of Děčín.

“The Olympic Games are a dream come true for every athlete. In addition, I already boxed amateurs, but at that time there were no women in the Olympics. Only then was there boxing in three weight categories, but I didn’t fall into any of them. That’s why I quickly went to the professional ring. Now I’m going back to try it in the amateurs,” the boxer with a professional record of 15-1-1 is happy.

Understandably, she consulted with coach Rudolf Kraj, silver medalist from the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. “I said it definitely won’t be easy. Of course, I’m in favor because I’ve experienced the Olympics and I know what I’m talking about. It is the highest goal for athletes,” said Kraj.

It will be important to ideally adapt to different conditions. “I emphasized that Lucka is the type who gets going and starts, for example, in the fourth round. In amateurs (3×3) it would be too late. It will be the biggest problem for me. He has to fly into the ring and stomp from the first round. There is no time like in profiring,” the 45-year-old Kraj realizes. “The biggest problem will be the head,” he added.

The qualifying run will start at the end of June. “The qualification is at the turn of June and July in Kraków, Poland. It depends on how many of us are coming. We have maybe four to five matches to the finals,” explains Sedláčková. “The qualification will be very difficult. I wish Lucia to get there, and in general I wish that as many of our boxers as possible get there. If we manage to nominate two or three boxers, we would jump two meters high,” wishes the former boxer.

Whether the qualification is successful or not, the next steps in life are obvious. “I would like to get married and definitely have a baby after the Olympics,” Sedláčková is clear.
