The NBA and the AFD organize a training course for coaches and trainers in Casablanca – Today Morocco

A basketball training session kicked off on Wednesday in Casablanca as part of the Junior NBA & AFD Basketball Experience program.

Initiated by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the French Development Agency (AFD), in collaboration with the Idmaj Foundation and the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Casablanca-Settat, a training session basketball training was devoted to the benefit of 200 physical education teachers from the Casablanca region and 30 coaches from the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation.
NBA director of basketball operations Kita Matungulu said the initiative aims to train trainers who will have the opportunity to be part of an action plan for an integrated evolution of the Basketball Experience program. .
For his part, Boubker Mazoz, founding president of the IDMAJ Development Foundation, said that physical education teachers will benefit from a training session that is part of the Basketball Experience pilot program which has, since 2020, involved 60 schools and 4,550 students.

The initiative aims to train trainers who will have the opportunity to be part of an action plan with a view to an integrated evolution of the Basketball Experience program.

The program includes a sports component to develop basketball among young people and a component relating to awareness of the civic values ​​conveyed by sport, he noted.
The director of AREF Casablanca-Settat, Abdelmoumen Talib, noted that this training session aims to develop the capacities of young students through basketball. It is part of the Regional Academy’s educational project, which supports school sport and expands the educational offer through establishments that adopt the sport-studies program.
The North Africa Regional Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), Mathieu Vasseur, indicated, for his part, that this initiative is the result of a partnership that brings together several stakeholders, including civil society.
He noted that the training of trainers makes it possible to multiply and potentiate to the maximum the ability to reach the greatest number of young people, believing that this type of initiative carried out in Morocco is inspiring for the action of AFD in Africa and in the world.
Remember that the Junior NBA & AFD Basketball Experience program aims to raise awareness among Moroccan youth about sustainable development, citizenship and gender equality through sport.
