The curious reaction to the expulsion of Joao Félix in his debut with Chelsea FC | Premier League

A few days ago, the departure of Joao Félix from Atlético de Madrid to England on loan was consolidated. The Portuguese wanted to go out and it was given to Chelsea in London in the best way where, the truth is, he left excellent feelings in the commitment in which they were defeated by Fulham in a London derby. In fact, before the expulsion that soaked his debut, he was the best on the field and several Premier League leaders pointed out that he only lacked the score.

Although many reacted with sadness for the correct expulsion of Joao Félix, others celebrated it while watching the game. That was the case of Patrick Vieira, technical director of Crystal Palace, Chelsea’s rival last weekend and that the ‘Blues’ added three points for the minimum.

Joao Félix will still be under the gaze of Diego Pablo Simeone and Atlético de Madrid, as he left on loan for the year 2023 and had a sad debut that nobody wanted to have. He came in armed and hit his marker and did not fight the referee’s decision. A more than deserved red card that had no repercussions from the former Sporting Benfica.

The red one soaked up a great performance that he was having during what he was able to play. References from the Premier League praised him, as was the case with Paul Merson who told Sky Sports, “Joao Félix seemed like an incredible player against Fulham… In the end they sent him off, and rightly so. I don’t think he meant any harm but… This guy was being unbelievable, he would have scored a goal if Chelsea’s confidence was any higher than he was”.

Ian Wright, a former English player, also supported the Portuguese, putting him as one of the best players on the field, and asking that he please not be left alone on a loan, but that Todd Boehly hand over the money to insure him. “Honestly, it was exhilarating. What I got out of all this is that Chelsea fans should be very happy with his arrival”, adding, “Todd, send the money now to Madrid (the one from the clause of his transfer, there is no purchase option in the transfer current). I saw him zip past Antonee Robinson. The skill, the pace, the application of him and how he flies under pressure…he could have easily scored a hat-trick. He showed us so much in such a short time in his first game that if I were a Chelsea fan I would be very, very excited by what he had seen.”

Although the expulsion left comments of sadness for the mentioned players, Patrick Vieira, Crystal Palace coach who faced Chelsea at the weekend and lost by the slightest difference, reacted with great happiness when he saw Joao’s red card, obviously, for the Frenchman was an important piece for the ‘Blues’ in another clash between Londoners.

According to Ian Wright, they were both watching the game and recounted Patrick’s curious reaction, “I have to tell you that I was watching the game with Patrick Vieira and we were talking, talking about Joao Félix, saying how well he was playing in his first game. When he was thrown out, Patrick literally got up and went into the kitchen, only to yell, ‘Yes! Yes!’ He got up, looked at me, smiled at me.” With or without the Portuguese, Palace couldn’t beat Chelsea in the league game.
