From January 20 to 22, Nîmes is hosting the 2023 edition of Sud de France – Nîmes Archery. An indoor tournament which brings together 1000 archers and which should launch the year of the Blues.
Do all roads lead to Paris? From Nîmes, the French capital is several hundred kilometers away. But for French archers, the Gard city is very close. This weekend, from January 20 to 22, the best tricolors will indeed take part in the Sud de France – Nîmes Archery. An international indoor tournament, an important step at home as the Paris 2024 Games approach.
Organized by the Arc Club of Nîmes, it is one of the major meetings of the Indoor World Series. This 25th edition of the competition promises to be in full swing with more than 1,000 registered archers. As usual, many international archery leaders will be present in the Gard capital: Brady Ellison (USA), Ella Gibson (GBR), Mike Schlosser (NED), Miguel Alvarino Garcia (ESP)… Will the French archers, numerous in last year’s finals, keep their place in the final square?
Lisa Barbelin, wins it like in 2022?
The most awaited Tricolore is undoubtedly Lisa Barbelincurrent 6th world and victorious last year in the women’s category. In Nîmes, she knew how to go all the way to get one of the greatest successes of her career. “Nîmes is an important step, a major step at the start of the year. It’s a home meeting that launches the season, ”she says.
On the side of the compound bows, Jean-Philippe Boulch and Nicolas Girard, now well established in the top 5, will also be there. With the hope of climbing on the podium and taking advantage of this stay in Gard land to launch 2023, the pre-Olympic year, in the best possible way.
