Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr lost by 1-3, against Al Ittihad coached by Nuno Espírito Santo, in the semi-final of the Final Four of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup. It was the first defeat of the Portuguese international, in the second official game with the colors of the Riyadh club.
A fair victory for Al Ittihad, a team well put together by the Portuguese coach, who essentially bet on counterattacks and quick transitions against a very disorganized Al Nassr, mainly in defensive transitions.
Once again wearing the captain’s armband, CR7 tried to be the leader of Al Nassr, but as was exposed in the striker’s debut meeting, the team produces little offensive flow, leaving the captain of the National Team to watch play.
The exception was in the 43rd minute, when Ronaldo was very close to scoring, getting up and heading to Marcelo’s good save. The second important act was a direct free kick by the Madeiran that went slightly over the bar, at 65′.
Al Nassr’s goal was scored by Anderson Talisca, the team’s top scorer. The Brazilian reduced to 1-2, in one of the few highlights of the team led by Rudi Garcia, who made many mistakes, from positioning to individual decisions.
Al Ittihad will face Al Fayha, on Sunday, in the Super Cup final.
