THE BALL – Fan who tried to kick Ramsdale accused of assault (England)

The Englishman Joseph Watts, 35 years old, residing in Hackney, will be tried in court on the 17th of February of this year, where he will respond for assaulting Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal goalkeeper, who tried to hit the kick at the end of the Sunday’s London derby for the Premier League in which the Gunners beat Tottenham 2-0.

This Tuesday, London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed that they had identified the person responsible for the incident, which occurred shortly after the end of the meeting, and the date of the trial session at Highbury Court.

Watts came from the ‘spurs’ fans stand to an area closer to the pitch, which he invaded, threw a torch at Ramsdale – whose display was instrumental in the Premier League leaders’ victory in the derby – and then, the kick, tried to hit the ‘keeper’ of the ‘gunners’.

The ‘spurs’ helped the authorities with all the images from their stadium’s closed circuit TV to quickly identify the author of the incident, also already condemned by the Association of Professional Footballers and by the English federation, the FA (Football Association), while Tottenham announced that Watts, a club supporter, “will face an inquiry process to be banned”.
