Weghorst had a role in Manchester United’s 0-1 just before half-time. The thirty-year-old striker opened a gap, allowing Christian Eriksen to lay the ball ready for Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese did not hesitate and chased the ball into the corner.
Furthermore, Weghorst could not really put his stamp on the game. He had a header in the first half, but saw his effort sail just over the crossbar. In the 69th minute, the nineteen-time Orange international was taken aside.
After that, things went wrong for Ten Hag’s team. In stoppage time, Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise was allowed to score a free kick. He painted it phenomenally in the top corner.
