KRC Genk’s victory against Club Brugge was not concluded with a traditional moment of celebration. After a supporter from the business seats suffered a heart attack and was taken to hospital, the party round was canceled out of respect.

KRC Genk’s 3-1 win against defending champion Club Brug was not concluded with the usual moment of celebration. “At the end of the match, a supporter in the business seats next to the standing grandstand suffered a heart attack,” says Davy Vanhaen, commercial director of KRC Genk. “There was an immediate reaction from bystanders and the people of the Red Cross. The seventy-year-old was resuscitated on the spot and a MUG team came to the scene. When he was taken to the East Limburg hospital, he was conscious again and there was a heartbeat. His condition was then no longer critical but stable. Out of respect for the supporter, we agreed with the captain of the hard core that no traditional celebration would take place. We have no news yet about the current condition of the man. We would like to thank our supporters for understanding to cancel the celebration between supporters and players and then leave the stadium serenely. That is also #MijnPloeg. ”
