Stephen Curry back in training after shoulder injury

Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry returned to practice Friday with a shoulder injury and could be back on the court next week. The defending champion of the Golden State Warriors suffered from a partial dislocation in the left shoulder, after being injured on December 14 during a meeting in Indianapolis.

The 34-year-old star told a press conference that he had a good first training session “without limitswith his teammates. “It was good to sweat a little“said Curry, recalling that”it was the first day I trained with everyone. It’s been, what, three and a half weeks? I feel like I haven’t lost too much“. Curry, who wore a white arm and left shoulder sleeve under his jersey, concluded the practice with shooting drills.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers recently suggested that Curry could play Jan. 13 against the San Antonio Spurs. Head coach Steve Kerr said on Wednesday that schedule was possible, even though Curry has not yet been medically cleared to play again for the defending champions Warriors. “He has progressed very well“said Kerr, “there were no setbacks. He gets on the pitch and does more and more every day. Like Bob said, we’re hoping he’ll be able to come back next week. We’ll see how it goes».

The team’s leading scorer and passer with 30 points and 6.8 assists per game before his injury, Curry said he will assess his ability to return to the field every day. Even before Curry’s absence, the Warriors were making a start to the season far removed from their usual standards.
