Sporting chooses the Uruguayan Guillermo de Amores as Mariño’s replacement

Guillermo de Amores (San Jacinto, Uruguay, 1994) is chosen by Sporting de Gijón to reinforce the goal in the winter market. The club is negotiating the arrival of the Uruguayan goalkeeper, who currently plays for Lanús in Argentina, to succeed Diego Mariño and compete for the position with Cuéllar. The movement is still pending the officialization of the departure of Mariño to Almería, advanced exclusively by LA NUEVA ESPAÑA and which will take place in the next few hours. The Gijón team thus renews a position that was expected to be renewed in a winter market. David Guerra, executive president, has indicated that no further movements are expected if there are no departures. He is a week ahead.

Sporting has intensified the negotiations to reinforce the goal once the departure of Diego Mariño to Almería has been defined. The club has made several inquiries in recent days, with Guillermo de Amores finally being chosen, according to sources close to the negotiation. Another of the footballers who has been on the table is the Navarrese goalkeeper Ander Cantero, currently in the ranks of Eibar. If nothing goes wrong, De Amores will have his first experience in European football in Gijón. International for Uruguay in lower categories, he has an Italian passport, so his incorporation would be without having to occupy a non-EU position.
