Spain wants to compete “from day one” in the World Handball Championship

The goalkeeper Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas, one of the captains of the Spanish handball team, said yesterday that “the objective” in the World Cup in Poland and Sweden “is to compete from the first day” and made it clear that the best way to fighting for the podium means not abandoning the match-by-match philosophy that has given the Spanish team such good results in recent years.

The team will try to exploit to the maximum the good atmosphere that exists within the team and that Gedeón Guardiola, another of the captains, pointed out as one of the keys to the recent successes.

“The atmosphere is very good within the team and I think this is one of the secrets why we have been able to get as far as we have”, said Guardiola during the farewell event for the selection held at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee .

An event in which the Spanish coach, Jordi Ribera from Saarland, highlighted the good work done during the preparation phase by the team, which will arrive in Poland and Sweden as one of the favorites for the title.

“Spain always comes out as one of the teams to beat, because we have won it in recent years, but to get to the end you have to go step by step and always respecting all rivals”, assured the coach.
