Four Latvian teams of “Optibet” Baltic Women’s Volleyball League (BSVL) have returned from away games with two victories in eight games.
BSVL two points were brought home from Lithuania RVS/LU. First, the Kaunas team was beaten in five sets, but then a three-set loss was experienced in Jonava at the end of the set.
As usual, the most productive in the Riga team was team captain Kristīne Kramēna, who scored 25 and 14 points, respectively. Liva Eber scored 13 points in the victory, four on a block, and in the second game she scored 10 points, three on a block.
“The girls were given an 11-day break at the end of the year after a busy game schedule. After the rest, there was little practice, and in Kaunas there was confusion with the sports hall, and we missed the start of the warm-up. Therefore, the first set was a warm-up, and we started playing only at the end of the second set and the beginning of the third,” explains the difference in the results in the sets RVS/LU coach Arvils Keish. “The Kaunas team has a new coach, and they played the match better than in the first game against us. Our volleyball players played well – stable even in difficult situations.”
“The game against the Jonava team went point by point. Jonava is one of the tactically strongest teams in the league, and besides, they were well prepared during the holidays. The fate of the set was decided by some simple balls that we should have taken, but overall it was a good game,” the coach is satisfied with the game, but not the result, in Sunday’s battle.
Two points were brought from Tallinn “SuFA club”/YOUbut one – VK “Jelgava” volleyball players. The points were won against the youth team “Audentes SG/NK”, but against the leading team “TalTech/Tradehouse” they failed to win a single set.
Līva Sola scored 22 points for Jelgava, four of which were on the block, attacking with 55% efficiency, while Kristīne Gabranova scored 20 points for Daugavpils, five of which were scored from the service line, three on the block, and 52% of attacks were converted into points.
On the other hand RSU/MSG this time he came from Lithuania without winning sets. Katrína Struka scored 7 and 15 points respectively in both matches.
“TalTech/Tradehouse” has 35 points in 12 games, while Jonava’s “Aušrine” and “Kaunas-VDU” have collected 34 and 28 points in 13 matches, respectively. In the competition of 10 teams, 24 points in 12 matches and the fourth place in the tournament table is RVS/LU, with 18 points in 13 matches follows VK “Jelgava”, 16 points in 13 matches and the sixth place is for the RSU/MSG unit, while eight points in 14 matches and the ninth place is “SuFA club”/DU account.
“Optibet” Latvian championship for women “Marupes SC” won two victories in Gulbene on Sunday.
