After the CPS Noticias team carried out a review on January 6 of the rehabilitation of the Manuel Gómez Jiménez basketball court, located in the historic center of the city of La Paz, the maintenance work ended on January 14. and during that weekend in the municipal volleyball games the changes could be seen.
Two weeks ago, Amor Fenech Montaño, general director of Inclusion and Diversity of the La Paz City Council, commented that it was a project established at the beginning of the present administration, which is why it was restored during the holidays.
Now, the director of municipal sports in La Paz, Guillermo Ortalejo, said that $240,000 pesos were invested for the rehabilitation work, in order to improve the sports space, which already has decades of existence, emphasizing that only work was done on the stave
“The work on the Gómez Jiménez stave began in December and was completed in mid-January. 240,000 pesos were invested in replacing the damaged stave pieces with new ones, as well as preventive and corrective maintenance and fumigation against termites, ending with the painting of the the game lines.
Ortalejo highlighted that the stave was not maintained on the Manuel Gómez Jiménez court since 2011.
Some athletes who play there, such as the basketball player Fernanda Fausto, assured that this improvement contributes a lot to the practice of the sport, since it is done in a more comfortable way and with advances during physical performance.
“La Gómez Jiménez is practically like a relic of South Californian basketball, I am sure that now with this remodeling, many more events will come, since it is the place where it is always available and they always lend it to us to train and play, so I am happy that it is a space that the same municipality continues to take care of”.
In this sense, during this first semester of 2023 it is expected that the stage will be used for karate, taekwondo, boxing, wrestling events, among others, which will be of the utmost importance because they qualify for the Conade National Games.
