Racing began training ahead of the Federal League debut

The first men’s basketball team of Club Racing de Trelew, started yesterday with training for their participation in the Federal Basketball League that will start on January 28. It was the first contact of the new academic coach, Bruno Echegaray, with his managers.

Yesterday a new stage of competition for Racing basketball began and it began with the new coach Bruno Echegaray who, after playing in the last season with the Trelewan team, now put on the coach’s suit to lead his team in the League Federal basketball 2023.

“The truth is very happy now that everything is confirmed,” Echegaray began about his new sporting role.

He also explained that the proposal came surprisingly through Ariel Gibbon, Manager of Racing’s basketball. “Ariel ends up convincing me to take hold and that it was the best for the club and for me. It was something that I had not looked for or thought about, although they are always with the illusion of leading the club’s first team. It was something that, as I was playing I hadn’t thought about it. But in the end I said yes and now I’m happy with my expectations.”

Regarding the first contact with his managers, Bruno stated: “We are very happy with the coaching staff because very early in the morning, we had eleven players, we still need reinforcements to arrive between today and Thursday, we already started training. Today they had the physical part and then we did a fundamentals conference that broke down some of the offenses to get the guys moving and shooting.”

He also stressed that the group is “in good spirits, all happy. The truth is that we are all very anxious to start.”

As for the first premises, he pointed out that “it will be to put the most training from here until the start of the tournament that there is still no date. The a priori date is January 28, but we believe and hope that it will stretch a little more because if he gives us another week or two of work, it’s much better”.

Racing will train in the first two weeks in a double shift Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. While Wednesday and Saturday will be two-hour training.

The morning training was attended by the older players Nicolás Sánchez, Emiliano Capaccioni -who will be the team captain-, the under-21 player Benjamin Valls and the rest of the youth players. Meanwhile Matías Nahuelquin could not attend due to labor issues and Sebastián Regulsky who is ending his vacation.

Today the arrival of reinforcements Fran Del Canto, Ricky Pinon and Alejandro Astudillo is expected. While tomorrow, Wednesday, Joaquín Cabré will arrive.

Let us remember that Bruno Echegaray will accompany him in the coaching staff, Adrián «Colo» Luján (1st assistant), Belkys Echegaray (Video Editing), Tomás Diez (Technification), Agostina Bilancioni (Statistics) and Julián Ibarra (Physical Preparation).

The academy is part of the Southern Conference of the Federal League together with the clubs: Brown from Puerto Madryn, Ferrocarril Patagonico, Zorros de San Martín de Los Andes, Centro Español de Plottier, Independiente, Pérfora, Biguá, Petrolero, Pacífico and Unión from Río Colorado from Rio Negro.
